This man was pointing his lens in our general direction and wildly snapping pics, so I thought it was only fair that he pose for our project. There’s a lot to love here, especially his layered tops, wispy hair and cool man-bags. He’s from Tokyo.
Also. I love the concrete jungle that is now Granville Street. The view to the south, sans trees, is pretty stunning.

Here’s clear evidence that West Coast skate style was inspired by classic utilitarian work wear. These Dickies look like they’ve seen an actual factory or two and the chain is probably holding down a wad of life savings. This man said he’d rather be photographed in his Legion suit but he was obliging nonetheless. I wish I’d paid attention to his button but I imagine it’s a labour slogan.

I wish I’d captured his beaten old black leather man-bag. It was the detail in his outfit that distinguished him from any other well-dressed guy. His shoes are also worth noting: comfy like slippers yet seamlessly tied to his urban-casual ensemble. Smart.
After a day of shutter-shy folks who refused to strike a pose, Syl’s interest in our project made my day. Such a handsome guy.
