This summer pin-striped suit caught my eye right away. It was purchased in the southern states over 30 years ago but doesn’t look a day old. The handsome man wearing it told me that his ensemble always reminds him of his father who said, “A cane and a hat is the definition of leisure!”

I attended the Whistler Film Festival opening gala Wednesday night with my husband, who worked on the opening movie Daydream Nation and there were dozens of gorgeous, fabulously dressed seniors. This woman is the aunt of Reece Thompson, one of the leads in the film. She told me she is a costume designer by trade and can always count on looking chic in her white cotton shirt.

Wayne caught my eye from across the room and when I complimented him on his look he said he’s not entirely happy with his haircut, as it used to be a huge fro. I told him his hair looks great, as is. I love his youthful look!

This sultry looking fellow refused to be photographed alone, so this lovely young woman with mile long lashes posed with him. He’s got that Neil Diamond look going for him: long scarf, silver chain and the most brilliant white teeth (and not just because of the flash).

Retirement hasn’t stopped this West Ender from dressing up for the day.

I don’t know how many times I have passed this man on Commercial Drive and every time I see him he is decked out, head to toe, in a sharp-cut three piece suit, complete with a handkerchief, matching tie and gold rings. Very impressive.

Equally as compelling as their fashion, the subjects that we photograph for GranPaparazzi have amazing stories! Meet Gary Poirier, one of 5 survivors who lived through the collapse of Vancouver’s Second Narrows Bridge in 1958. The accident is one of the worst industrial accidents in Canada’s history. Gary was just 18 years old and an apprentice iron worker when the bridge collapsed while he was on the job. In 1994 the bridge was renamed the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing. It was great talking with Gary, and by the way, I think he looks superb! I especially love the suspenders.

I hurried after this woman as she left the Bay, keeping her red shoelaces and hip sneakers in my sightline. Although you can’t quite see the detail here, her Keds are playfully decorated with cartoon drawings. She told me that she walks a lot and so practical shoes are a must. I agree!

I’d expect nothing less of an opera singer. He performs every Sunday at Cambrian Hall on Main Street. Rakish!

This gentleman is currently dating Miss Kitsilano 1954 and she keeps him on top of his game when it comes to style. He finds regular clothing stores too high brow and too expensive. This sharp suit is from Value Village, a classic stop for treasure hunters and thrifty shoppers.

These two are amazing! The outfits, pretty good, the pose, outstanding! These lovely ladies were waiting in pressed pantsuits for a matinee and demanded that they be photographed together. I now see why.

I absolutely love this caramel, houndstooth ensemble, not to mention the matching glasses. Anna bought this Escada “short suit” years ago while in Europe. She explained that she feels “it’s a timeless piece that has kept in fashion throughout the years.” I’d have to agree with her…..she looks fantastic!
