I spotted this gorgeous woman in the candy shop. She doesn’t speak a word of English, so her friend translated for me. I was so pleased she agreed to be photographed. The hip fitting plaid skirt is modest but feminine, her blouse, while you can’t see it well in the photograph, has a splash of sequin that matches the beaded florets on the pockets of her quilted jacket. I am also a big fan of the yellow belt, a brilliant outfit through and through. Grazie!

I caught this woman in the middle of a protest in the Downtown East Side, in full swing. She posed for a moment and pranced on into the crowd. I adore the plaid jacket mixed with this Mexican-meets-gypsy ensemble.

The woman in yellow is in her nineties. She comes here daily with her caretaker to look at English Bay.
Both women are styled from head to toe. Like a chapeau on a gentleman, a silk scarf on a woman always warrants a second glance. The navy color around the older woman’s neck picks up on her light blue skirt and the leather gloves on the bench match her shoes.
The caretaker’s plaid wool skirt is a rainy day classic.

With a Mercedes to the left and a Lexus to the right, this woman’s High Street vibe blends in with the scenery. A working woman in her 60′s, she believes in timeless classics that’ll last for years. Ephemeral style is for the birds!
Black flats and a knee-length pleated skirt — always in style — are zazzed up with purple glass beads and contemporary sunglasses.

Hair flowers always make me think of Billie Holiday. This one isn’t a gardenia. It’s not even alive. But it’s just right for an imaginary day in Honolulu.
She was supposed to retire in Hawaii but something kept her from going. Her sundress, inspired by Aloha prints and muumuus, pays homage to what might have been.
