While in the midst of a large group at a rally, this woman stood out from the crowd with her bold fashion statement.  After speaking with Diana, I learned that she began to pick and choose her clothing at the early age of three – her mother told her she was very particular about the clothing she wore.  She loves bold colors and enjoys mixing and matching accessories and jewelry.

It was lovely meeting Phyllis on a sunny, Saturday afternoon – such grace, poise and impeccable style.  Asking what inspired her style, she told me that she and her husband were from New York and had worked at Tiffany and Co. for over 25 years.  Although she loves New York, she is now enjoying her 90′s on the West Coast.

The carved cane is a lovely addition to this man’s ensemble.  What you can’t see is that he also had a kerchief in his jacket pocket that matched his cap, pants and cane.  I promise that next time I’m in a similar situation, I will be sure to capture that detail in the picture!

I met Marjorie while waiting at the bus stop.  Her blues and browns caught my eye.  She explained that in addition to being fashionable, her leather gloves were a practical barrier from bus germs and they give good grip on railings.  I love outfits that are stylish and practical.

I looked up “gaunt” in the dictionary and thesaurus and all that came up were negative definitions of paleness. Yet this is the best photograph I’ve ever taken for this site, the first that I didn’t doctor in photoshop in any way (perhaps to the chagrin of my photography teachers), but this gentleman, his three-piece suit, the day, the moment, was perfect.

This couple just looked too wonderful for me to let them walk past me without taking their picture.  Notice that they each have polka dot print shirts beneath their blazers.  Very charming.

I spotted this gorgeous woman in the candy shop. She doesn’t speak a word of English, so her friend translated for me. I was so pleased she agreed to be photographed.  The hip fitting plaid skirt is modest but feminine, her blouse, while you can’t see it well in the photograph, has a splash of sequin that matches the beaded florets on the pockets of her quilted jacket. I am also a big fan of the yellow belt, a brilliant outfit through and through. Grazie!

I’ve always enjoyed the clean look of black, but I definitely appreciate the added flavour that the textured material, white scarf, and fabulous hair bring to these outfits.  My guess is that these ladies always have a little flair to their look!  Check out a close up of those braids below.

Now and then I’m lucky enough to photograph a photographer who teaches me something.  Not only was this man stylish in a cozy, West Coasty, let’s read Russian novels kind of way, he was also full of good tips on lighting.  Thank you, sir!
