ancestral photo remake i 499x350 Contests

Calling all descendants of moms and dads.

(That means you).

Granpaparazzi is holding an Ancestral Photo Remake Contest.

Enter for a chance to have your photos LIGHTBOXED, gift-wrapped and sent to the loved one of your choice, courtesy of GP.

The rules are simple:

1. Find an old photo of your grandmother or grandfather. Greats and great-great-greats are more than welcome.  Scan it!

2. Turn yourself into your grandparent.  Think of the clothes, the accessories, the pose, the hair and the attitude.  Channel your ancestor completely.

3. Get a friend to photograph you.  Or, if this is a solo effort, use your timer.  One member of our collective tried this and it worked out perfectly (see above).

4. Send both photos, the scanned original and the remake, with a short (100 words will do) write-up about your ancestor and his/her style to style@granpaparazzi.com by JULY 31, 2011.

Over the next week, we’ll post our own photo remakes so you can see how easy and fun it is.

*Before the contest closes, all eligible entries will be posted on granpaparazzi.com for you and your families to enjoy. We’ll pick our winner, lightbox the images and send them back to the winner, framed and ready to give as a gift or keep forever.  Like this:

Huge shout out to Danielle Marleau at Prep Work Hair Studio in Vancouver for remaking our hair with hot rollers, old-timey pins and whatever it took to pay proper style homage to our ancestors.

Thanks as well to photographer William Ting for helping us get our poses and sassitude just right, and for taking the photos.

*The web is a wilderness. Our content is copyrighted and we monitor any misuse of our images; however, Granpaparazzi is not responsible for online redistribution of contest submissions.

Good luck!
