Wool Sweater

This woman looks so boss! She told me the jacket is from New Zealand and it’s 100 percent wool. In fact, this is the full package, glasses, gloves, shoes and all.

Some things, like leopard print scarves, will be in style for a long time and I don’t mind! Whether you are Joan Jett or her grandmother, a little leopard print is going to look great (especially with some large fashion sunglasses!).

This woman agreed to pose just before the bus pulled up, whipping wind through her hair. Her outfit is from the Golden Girl era of mature fashion, flirty strap sandals and a sophisticated yet feminine lavender jacket.

I live on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, a neighborhood also known as “Little Italy.” There’s no shortage of gorgeous old men, dressed to the nines, but it’s rare they agree to being photographed. This eclectically dressed gentleman was a good sport and when we were done our impromptu photo shoot, I told him he had beautiful eyes, and he said with a twinkle in his eye, “And you have a beautiful body!” I got chills up my spine, and I had to wonder, am I a 29-year-old Lolita?

I met this woman at a social event. She arrived straight from the paddock, looking superhumanly fit and cool. At 80-something, this athletic gran rides horses with her granddaughters every week. Her riding gear is gritty with remnants of horsey activity but she somehow looks ripe for a cocktail party with pearls, a wicker bag and stellar pink lipstick.

I love the creativity that went into putting this outfit together! The silver strappy sandals complement the bold print skirt and match her chunky silver ring and pendant necklace. I accidentally had my camera set to manual focus (an amateur photographer’s worst nightmare) and coincidentally the camera chose to focus on her shoes!

I spotted this woman bouncing down the street, with an apparent zest for life. I think she looks so California against the shiny glass backdrop of Vancouver’s Robson Street. She told me she has just entered seniordom and is enjoying every minute of it.

White waffle knit jacket! Mandarin collar! Roll up sleeves! Yes! But what really got me, were the blue slacks. We all know by now, fashion recycles itself; tapered jeans are in, high waisted pants (what we used to call “mom jeans” back in the ’90s), but I have yet to see fashionistas of the day pulling off a nice pair of ironed slacks. We certainly see a lot of them amongst the silver haired set, like in Cass’ posts Monochromatic Cruisewear and Color.
