Purple Passion

So, so tender. This woman was visiting her husband in the hospital on Father’s Day, so she decked out in head-to-toe purple to cheer him up a bit. Purple = passion!

Everyone looks like a starlet under the glow of the neon bowling pin on Commercial Drive. This woman is one of the senior contributors to Lester’s Army Magazine and we were out to celebrate the magazine’s third issue. Congrats Lester!

This woman is waiting for her ride outside the VAG, looking sharp in an all-black pantsuit. Her hot pink frames, shirt and color-block scarf are the sartorial equivalent to my favorite type of woman: bright, fun and a little sassy.

When a woman of this age agrees to be photographed, I consider it a huge coup for our project. This is my favorite kind of senior chic: a real tribute to her generation with little concern for current trends. Her pearl and gold clip-on earrings are obviously hand picked to match her brooch. Her airy scarf is that featherweight kind that older women keep in spades — one for every outfit. Even her lipstick ties into the reds of her scarf.
She is 86 and terminally ill. I’m thrilled to have documented how gorgeous and cool she is.

This is the first older gentleman I’ve seen wearing seersucker. Instant style! He looks great, he oozes confidence and, not surprisingly, he works in real estate. Vancouver realtors flaunt some fancy threads these days.

This woman has collected over thirty purses! She explained that it is actually quite practical to have an abundance of purses because they don’t wear out from overuse and therefore you don’t need to replace them so often. I like her logic! Unfortunately you can’t see her cute purple hand bag here very well, but check out a close up of her broach and shades below.
