This gentleman is the most put together subject I have ever shot. He said that he follows his mother’s style advice to this day: don’t be afraid to spend money on a good suit, it will last longer and you will look like a million bucks.

This is one mean outfit. This picture makes me feel like I’ve been transported to Brooklyn in the 1960′s. When the streets were dirty, sex was clean (or so we thought) and life was unpredictable. Sigh.

This gentleman makes a hot polluted city look like a wonderland. I snapped his photo and all the towering semi trucks and traffic on Clark drive stopped, for just a moment.

I switched cameras for a day and it’s a pity that this image wasn’t as crisp and sharp as the summer breeze that should have been blowing through lovely Mary’s hair. Really, it was in a mall, with no flash. But her dress, 1960′s work wear, is as sharp as the day she bought it, years ago.

She told me she puts her hair in curlers each night and styles her 1950′s do herself.

When I walked away from taking this photograph, all I could say to myself was “love, love, love.”

Hair flowers always make me think of Billie Holiday.  This one isn’t a gardenia.  It’s not even alive.  But it’s just right for an imaginary day in Honolulu.

She was supposed to retire in Hawaii but something kept her from going.  Her sundress, inspired by Aloha prints and muumuus, pays homage to what might have been.

I think this woman pulls off the sophisticated yet casual look quite gracefully.  And even though stripes have been crowding the wardrobe of late, I think they add a smart finish to this outfit.

This woman’s name is not Jennie, nor is this her bench, but I hope one day she has a bench named after her. Shanti and I were first drawn to her lovely felt hat. She explained that she bought it in Switzerland, years ago. I think she’s stunning in her blue trench and gray slacks.

Simplicity is often the key to a perfect look and this city slicker knows what he’s doing. One dictionary definition of city slicker is “a worldly, nattily dressed city dweller,” and this gentleman could claim authorship.
